We managed to negotiate the final 75 miles with ease to Newark airport. The last 0.2 miles in the airport to/from petrol station to Hertz returns was a nightmare though! Thankfully you are unlikely to ever meet a driver like our cab driver, but we survived and have unpacked in our NYC suite on the […]

. . . . . . closer and closer . . . . .
Today’s target was a relaxing 180 mile drive to Newburgh, our last stop before The Big Apple To those of you that think New York State is all about Manhattan and NYC, you are sooooooo wrong. The beauty of yesterday’s “finger lake” counties was matched by the drive through the Catskills today. It was a […]
On the road – Ithaca . . . . .
We left Niagara and spent 75 minutes in immigration getting our passports stamped! What a contrast between the American and Canadian side of Niagara – lets just say you haven’t seen Niagara unless you’ve been to the Canadian side! “minivan” picked up and I’m delighted to say it’s a Toyota Sienna – luxurious enough to […]
It is a wonder of the world!
Like true tourists Family I were up bright and early for their next sight-seeing adventure, cameras ready. After about an hour transfer time we arrived about 9ish. The photos show the view better than any words of mine! By the end of the day we became experts at getting those macs on and off – […]
Caribbean Festival
What an explosion of noise and colour! And heat – 32°C! Today was the parade along the water front – we didn’t stay for the full 8 hours but we were there for a good half of it. The colour and noise just kept coming and coming. Everyone was so friendly. TV states there were […]
What a great day!
Despite the body still thinking we were on UK time and waking up at 03:30 (or 08:30 to you in Blighty) we all got up refreshed to start our holiday proper. Rachel did a great “spot” yesterday with Hippo Tours – bus tour of Toronto followed by the bus going in to the Lake – […]
Arrived safely
Well we got up really really early, didn’t argue and got to Heathrow in plenty of time. The flight was superb, highlight for the boys was the Hermolis meals – sad I know! Rachel was impressed by the cockpit and the female co-pilot. Weather worse than the UK when we landed but brightening up now. […]
We are nearly off . . . . . .
Ok – now we have permission to get excited. We are almost packed and there is plenty of space for all of Rachel’s future purchases. Well there is now that we have removed someone’s 10kg of dumb bells! Yes I’m being serious!
Jonathan’s Graduation
What can I say, such a proud family! This was the most fantastic day and I even baked a cake to celebrate! Take a look at the photos and you might see somewhere that I just couldn’t keep out of the piccies! Click on the first photo to enlarge it, then navigate through them
Mum and Dad’s Golden Wedding Anniversary
After 50 glorious years, Ma and Pa celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary over the whole weekend, nothing like celebrating in style! Whilst their Wedding Anniversary is Jan 1st we started on New Year’s Eve, celebrating with Family Y (who?) Despite their advancing years Mum and Dad trounced us young uns at “smart mouth” and charades. […]
